I often write that my motivation for creating the Smooth Jazz Sunday Brunch online show is to provide you with a place to tune out the cares and responsibilities of the world and indulge yourself in music, food and good company. Just the same, with the approach of Memorial Day, it's appropriate to turn our attention to those who have sacrificed so much, so that we have the liberty to enjoy life in such a relaxed, care-free way.

On June 6, in Memphis, there's a benefit concert for American Veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. The great jazz and blues pianist, Junior Mance will be performing. It's a wonderful way to apply the artistry of the human spirit as expressed in music to healing the broken souls, hearts and minds of so many veterans.
