A stalwart of the NY jazz scene since the mid-eighties, Matthew Shipp is surely one of the most respected and influential jazz artists of his generation. He has an instantly recognizable style on the piano, though his work spans an incredibly broad range of pursuits, from solo performances to collaboration with hip-hop artists to his long membership in the quartet of the late David S.
